Welcome to the SG Sports World!

Welcome to SG Sports World, where we attempt to share our angles, picks, thoughts, and ramblings about the sports that we love.

On this site we have articles and some applications for you to use to help make your selections. Our applications are growing, but currently include:

  • The Line Assistant section provides insight when analyzing point spreads and power rankings of the various team matchups for NCAA Football and Basketball, NFL, and the NBA.
  • Track Calc is our first iPhone application that is used for horse racing. It is helpful for beginners as well as experts in trying to find the most effective way to place bets (and learn the sport).

Our articles will also expand, but currently showcase the expertise of staff authors who will be sharing their angles, picks and thoughts throughout the season.

  • JBiggy's Corner discusses a wide range of topics, mostly centered on College Football.
  • Haynes World is one of the resident horse racing gurus, however he also enjoys football which you can read about on his blog as well.
  • SG Picks is probably the least active blog, but might surprise you from time to time.

To get the most of this site, a user account will be required. It is free, but it will get you signed up for the forums, and the Line Assistant web application. You will need to register through the site to gain access to such things. The same login will be required on the forums and Line Assistant. In the future, we will be able to work off of 1 login to access all the content, but for now, you will have to sign in individually to each of parts of the site, forums, and Line Assistant. It will always be the same user name and password.

Some Saturday Plays

Well, I was winner last night, barely. Onto the weekend, no plays tonight for me as I can't bring myself to play or fade the stache.

Under 58.5 Miami (OH) vs. Cincy

Wow, 2 Weeks

I haven't been around in a couple of weeks now, got pretty busy believe it or not. Also, had I 3 bad weeks in a row and took last weekend off, well sort of, I went 1-1, just 2 bets though.

Now for the matter at hand. Before we get to Saturday we have a couple of good games, as far as value goes, being played tonight.

Hawgs v Dawgs

Let's talk about some College Football. There are some interesting games here, but it does not seem that some of them have been talked about individually in depth as much as they normally would be. To me, it seems that the Texas/Texas Tech game is getting way too much publicity. In addition to liking USC on the road, BYU seems to be a good play.

This week in the NFL

I thought I would take a few minutes to run down my thoughts on some opportune games in the NFL this week as I see them. No promises, but I am interested in some of these enough to play them straight but I know lots of folks like to tease. If that is the case, I do not see how that could be a bad idea. On to the games...

I will be a happy spectator tonight...

I do not know about the rest of you, but I just do not see anything worthy of playing tonight.

Looking at the Line Assistant output has it showing that the line is pretty much perfectly set where the point difference should be. However, I have several thoughts...

1) Are the pats fired up to have Brady/Moss back in action at home?

Pile That Money High This Week

I hope Week 2 treats us all much nicer than Week 1 did. I'm hearing alot of dogs barking this week. Let's get it started.

Army - Pick

The Black Knights look like a great play in this spot. I know I ranked them as one of my Bottom 10 ATS teams coming into this season, but Duke looks really bad again this year.

NFL Tonight

Tonight when the Steelers host the Titans to start the season off, I am of the thought that you could expect some magic.

WEEK 2 LEANS AND THOUGHTS

Well, Week 1 was not so great. I finished 3-4 ATS over the long weekend, but somehow ended up down 2 units. A late score by Ole Miss really cost me on Sunday. Oh well, Week 2 is right around the corner and it's time to make that money this week.

Weekend Plays and Thoughts

Well, the first night of College Football came and went last night. It was a break even night as I lost a teaser with Troy, who is overrated, but ended the night with a solid cover on Boise State.

College Football Kick-Off

As I'm writing this, two teams from the Carolinas are gearing up for the first televised game of the year. Unfortunately, I'm in class.

That, however, won't stop me from offering a couple of last minute picks for tonight's late game.

Oregon at Boise State (- 4.5)
